For several years, Sargento has hit the links to make wishes come true for children who are very ill. The Sargento-Johnsonville golf outing at the end of August raises the most funds for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin than any other event of its kind. This year, our effort helped some very special children.
Participants enjoyed lots of fun activities and treats throughout the golf course and they got a chance to meet many local Wish Children and the voice of the Green Bay Packers, celebrity host Wayne Larrivee. The outing took place last week at Pine Hills in Sheboygan.
The evening awards program featured three-year-old Wish Child, Sam, from Sheboygan (right) who is battling neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Thanks to the event, Sam’s wish to have a super hero experience at Walt Disney World® is one of the many special wishes that have or will come true soon. Together we raised enough to help grant 45 life-affirming wishes for local children struggling with critical illnesses.
As presenting sponsor, Sargento helped make three other wishes come true:
For 14-year-old Dara who suffers from a devastating genetic disorder, which has caused tumors to develop in her heart, kidneys and brain. Dreaming about her special wish to go to London has helped her pull through many dark and challenging times. Dara is very excited about her wish, which will come true.
Also for 16-year-old Ethan whose world was turned upside down last summer when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Ethan’s exciting wish to meet his hero NBA star Jimmy Butler in California came true last month – You can view his Wish which was featured on ESPN
And for 17-year-old Abigail who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Abigail has renewed hope for her future thanks to your support to help grant her wish to have assistance with college tuition.
Caring for our communities and the people who make them special is central to our responsibility as a company and as individuals. Sargento gives like family and has since the very beginning in 1953.
